...new knowledge leads to modern miracles

Background

Work History

I have spent the past 5 years working as a research assistant in various universities. I have worked at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, under the supervision of Geraldine Leydon, where I employed as a research assistant to write a literature review looking at inequalities in accessing a cancer diagnosis. This is where I first encountered the lack of information regarding lone parents who suffer from cancer. I later moved to Kings College London where I worked as a quantitative research assistant analysing data on the European Community Respiratory Health Survey II, lead by Dr Deborah Jarvis. On completion of this post, I went to work at the Battersea Research Group again as a quantitative researcher, and analysed data on the Cutting Out Needless Deaths using IT project.

These positions equipped me with the experience and knowledge that led to me to working towards my PhD at Birkbeck College, in the department of Psychological Science, under the supervision of Professor Jonanthan Smith. I commenced this in October 2009 and my study is entitled “Experiences of lone parents with cancer and their requirements of supportive care”.
